ABOUT JAZZEAST RISING ASSOCIATION
JazzEast Rising is a non-profit organization formed in 1987 to present the first ever TD Halifax Jazz Festival in Halifax. Over the past 26 years, JazzEast has widened its horizons beyond the successful TD Halifax Jazz Festival to become involved, throughout the year, in a diverse range of musical and educational activities. Not just an organization, JazzEast is a community. We are over 500 active volunteers, 200 members, 270+ local and regional jazz artists, a team of corporate and government partners and an audience that has surpassed the 50,000 mark.
ABOUT THE TD HALIFAX JAZZ FESTIVAL
As the largest and flagship production of JazzEast, the TD Halifax Jazz Festival is a nine day annual summer music festival dedicated to being a quality showcase of Canadian and international jazz and related genres and to providing opportunity for audience and artist development through performance, education and collaboration.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist Artistic Director (AD) with the management of artist logistics and communications including procuring tech riders, arranging artist hospitality, transportation, accommodations and other special needs as they arise
• Work with AD in the development and implementation of innovative stage design, house aesthetics, and auxiliary production needs for each series of the TD Halifax Jazz Festival
• Assist the AD with delivery of artist payments during TD Halifax Jazz Festival
• Oversee volunteer production coordinator, including scheduling of production crew for each venue
• General administrative tasks as they arise
• Prepare final report, including recommendations based on the job experience for future coordinators to be received by the Artistic Director on or before July 31st, 2012.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will:
• be able to work under own initiative as well as a member of a team
• be flexible with regards to job duties & tasks
• be open, friendly and demonstrate a solid work ethic
• have Computer skills (MS Office) as a necessity
• have minimum 3 years experience with event management, arts administration. Experience working with volunteers is a definite asset.
