Festival Dispatches

23RD TD CANADA TRUST ATLANTIC JAZZ FESTIVAL

July 10-18, 2009

Soon we will have a news section on the website, but until then come here to read the lastest news about the festival.

Festival news - April 21

You may have guessed that the office is a buzz. We are intensely intent on preparing another excellent version of the TD Canada Trust Atlantic Jazz Festival for you. This section of the newsletter will offer little bits of information I think you will want to know. As time moves us closer to July, this section will grow to engulf the newsletter.

*I hope you already know that 5 shows are on sale right now: the stupendously-graceful OLIVER JONES, boisterously-gritty JOE LOUIS WALKER, worldly-popular JANE BUNNETT, indie-awesome THE BELL ORCHESTRE, and the modernly-beautiful FÉLIX STÜSSI are coming to Halifax. Your guide is atlanticjazzfestival.ca.

*atlanticjazzfestival.ca continues in development. Web guru Adam Shore of Shoreline Consulting and design coolsters Co & Co are working with the JazzEast staff to make sure your experience on the web site is even better. I will make sure you know when the site is at its next phase of beauty.

*Last week one of the promotional campaigns began for this year’s festival. Keep checking The Coast on-line and in print for ads and contests.

*Phil Theriault, our Volunteer Coordinator, is back from Cuba. Feel free to bombard him with all of your requests to volunteer.

*Martine Durier-Copp and Josee Donohoe, co-coordinators for the Jazz Windows project, are heading a team that is working closely with business communities in HRM to turn store fronts into works of jazz-art. Quinpool Road is signed on and is stepping up their participation. Come July, keep your eyes open.

*NEXT SHOW RELEASE DATE: May 1st is the day members will hear about the main headliner for this year and May 14th is the day everyone will be sent the news.
