Videos of new jazz performances! We need more! Help wanted.

Search and Restore needs your help! We plan to embark on a year-long video documentation of the NYC jazz scene and expand our website to serve as a flagship home for the new jazz community, but we need donations from our friends and supporters in order to make this plan a reality.

OUR MISSION: TO CREATE A COMMUNITY FOR A NEW GENERATION OF JAZZ FANS

At a time when jazz has been ‘left for dead’ by too many critics, Search and Restore has set out to prove the pundits wrong. By presenting top quality new jazz in a format that fits the way young people see music today, we are attracting a younger and ever-expanding audience to jazz. We have proven that we have our finger on the pulse of the most exciting sides of the new jazz scene, displayed by our close work with artists such as Vijay Iyer, Kneebody, Jim Black, John Hollenbeck, Andrew D’Angelo, Jason Moran, Nasheet Waits and Miles Okazaki . But don’t take our word for it; see our press in the Wall Street Journal, Village Voice, and New York Times (at the bottom)

There is currently no home online for the incredible new jazz music being created in New York City and beyond, and we are going to build one. Our goal is to create a sustainable community for new jazz. With your generous support, this project will place SearchandRestore.com at the heart of that community.

OUR PLAN: DOCUMENT THE NYC NEW JAZZ SCENE

In 2009, we created SearchAndRestore.com to be the go-to website for NYC’s jazz scene with nightly listings and creative content, such as the Search And Restore Podcast where we interview and artist then let them play all the music they’re into. We are undertaking a groundbreaking video project to expand the reach of our website, bringing fans to the music and music to the fans.

With your generous donations, we’ll be sending our team out to the clubs and spaces where new jazz happens in New York City, and filming four concerts a week for one year. That’s 208 shows! As we gather and edit footage, our team will begin integrating it into individual artist pages for the hundreds of artists performing in New York, who represent the future of creative jazz music. We'll begin our filming at the legendary Winter Jazzfest, happening this January in Greenwich Village.

The artist pages on the new website will feature music, videos, upcoming shows and direct links for purchasing their music. We’ll also allow up and coming artists to log in and create their own artist pages as well to promote their own efforts within the community.

Your donations will allow us to capture the footage necessary to fully represent the new jazz world and spread the greatness of this music across the world.

WHY THIS IS NEEDED

Without a place for discovery online, a sustainable and growing community for new jazz music will never exist. Although there are current websites that feature jazz, they do not focus on the new music and are convoluted with articles and reviews that fail to offer anything that can truly bring the music to new people.

Thanks to the video we gather, the new SearchAndRestore.com will become an, accessible entry point for the new jazz scene, and everyone will benefit. The new influx of live video content will expose the artists to a much wider, curious audience, driving a steady rise in attendance at concerts as well as album purchases. Increased website traffic will enhance our ability to attract advertisers, creating a steady stream of revenue that will allow us to continue our efforts even after our initial year of filming is completed.

At Search And Restore, we know a live concert is the ultimate selling point for the mind-blowing sounds we champion. But a well-captured video is the next best thing, and by creating an accessible and engaging home for video evidence of the amazing new jazz scene as we know it, we can build a better future for discovery of the music.

WHERE YOUR MONEY’S GOING:

-Staff (people to help record and edit hours of footage into artist pages)
-Equipment (cameras, editing stations, hard drives)
-Expansion of our website
-Project management

Thank you so much for your time. Send this on to twenty friends and receive 7 years of good luck!

Thanks for your support,
